It was such a fun wedding for me to shoot.  The day started with Heidi coming in my room saying, “I’m getting married today!”  She could hardly contain herself and was talking a mile a minute, which is usually my job!  I would have thought that she had had too much coffee, but she doesn’t drink coffee.   Just pure excitement!

It was also different because all the getting ready happened at my house!  I got to shoot the first part of the day in my slippers!  How great is that!?!  But the best part was how stunning my dear friend looked.  She was just beaming and was so obviously happy.

I love these two photos.  The fabulous Karey Michelle often shoots with me, but this one was even more special because she and Heidi are in the same bible study group.  This shows just how far she goes to get the shot!  And I just love Heidi’s expression in the other photo.

My friend Kim Sanders from Art With Nature Floral Design did the flowers and they… were… GORGEOUS!

Chip’s daughter was the cutest little flower girl.  And Chip was lookin’ quite handsome.

Their wedding was at Villa del Sol (approximately 3 blocks from my house!).  There are so many great spots to shoot right around there.

That week was REALLY cold (for Southern California), but since I knew it was probably the last one,  and since they were showing Home Alone, I grabbed some friends, bundled up (A LOT!), and had a great evening!  I took along some cookies and hot cocoa (seemed appropriate), and here’s what I wore: thermal top and bottom, jeans, turtleneck, wool sweater, heavy coat, scarf, gloves, and a hat.  AND THEN….. I took my 20 degree sleeping bag.  I’m telling you… once I was in that sleeping bag, I wasn’t cold at all!

One of my very favorite things about Fullerton is the Historic Fox Theater.  They’ve been raising money to restore it for years and I can’t wait til it opens again someday.  But in the meantime they’ve been doing something to bring the community together.  Once a month hundreds of people show up in the parking lot behind the theater to watch a movie.  They bring their chairs and blankets, and sometimes dinner to watch a classic movie projected on the outside of the Fox.  Most of the time the the movie tends to go along with what time of year it is.  Like this summer they showed JAWS and it was the biggest crowd I’ve seen there.  Crazy packed!  Tonight was Young Frankenstein (or Fron-ken-steen!).  I try to go every month, regardless of what the movie is just because it’s so fun and I always see someone I know.  I love the sense of community when everyone laughs or applauds together.  I’ve even got a couple of my friends hooked!  So check out the schedule on their website and come out and join us!  Next month they’re playing Edward Scissorhands on October 28th.

They always show a Bugs Bunny cartoon before the movie which always ties in with the theme of the movie.

But I get to watch as their families grow.  Well, Rob and Robin are expecting their first baby any day… literally.  I think her due date was like a week ago!  We got together a few weeks ago to take some photos of Robin and her cute belly.  One of my favorite things Robin said was when I asked her if she minded showing some tummy.  She said, “Not at all.  I don’t even feel like it’s my stomach.  It’s like it’s not even a part of my body!”  Preggo bellies are weird like that.  Especially when they start moving!  It’s like a little alien!

Well we pray for a quick and safe delivery of baby Schannep.  They are doing a home birth with a midwife and I can’t wait to hear about it!

The first time I met with Elyse I thought, “This is my kind of girl!”  I couldn’t wait to shoot her wedding.  Elyse is a graphic designer so needless to say, I got excited as she talked about all of her ideas for the wedding.  And knowing that her and her family were doing it all, even the flowers, I couldn’t wait to see how it all turned out!  They did not disappoint!

Rain has been a them for these two and me.  It rained when we did their engagement shoot.  And it was set to rain the day of their wedding too.  I prayed for days that a God would keep it dry until 5:00, when the ceremony started.  After that, it could pour buckets.  Well….. that’s exactly what happened!  It started raining right after their first look.  It rained for a couple of minutes and then it stopped for the rest of our photo time.  Thank you!

Robert and Elyse, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day.  You are so much fun and you kept me laughing all day!

I have decided that in order to get me shooting just for fun, I would start taking photos of some of the things I love about my neighborhood.  The first one is Dewella.  This is one of the cutest little apartment buildings I’ve ever seen.  Sometimes I walk down that street just so I can admire it.  I love to imagine who might have lived here over the years.  I love the little gas lamps and the neon sign that buzzes its name.  I’ve often thought how I might like to live there.  But then I remember that I just bought a house and I decide that it would be better to live in my house (not to mention way more spacious).  But I do love Dewella.
